What you need to know about EcoPCO
Does EcoPCO work?
EcoPCO has been University and field-tested and proven to kill and control a broad spectrum of insect pest.
How is EcoPCO different from other insecticides?
EcoPCO works differently than other conventional and natural insecticides. Hexa-Hydroxyl, the active ingredient in EcoPCO, targets and blocks a key neurotransmitter found only in invertebrates (i.e. insects) called octopamine. Insects depend heavily on octopamine, for it is instrumental in regulating many of their basic functions, such as heart rate, muscle coordination, feeding and their "fight or flight" survival mechanism. Hexa-Hydroxyl interrupts the functioning of an insect's octopamine, causing it to die in a quick and confused manner. EcoPCO's mode-of-action is so unique, it is patented (U.S. Patent #6,004,569).
How can it target insects, but not people and pets?
While octopamine is a neurotransmitter found in insects, mammals do not use octopamine as a neurotransmitter, so Hexa-Hydroxyl has no adverse effect on them. In fact, many of the plant oils containing Hexa-Hydroxyl are U.S. FDA approved as food additives (commonly found in baked goods, dairy products, candy and beverages).
Is there a fragrance associated with EcoPCO?
Because the active ingredient is comprised of plant essential oils, there is a "floral" fragrance associated with some of our products.
